Nigerian social media activist, Vincent Otse Martins, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has released an alleged voice recording involving music promoter Sam Larry and Nigerian singer Zlatan Ibile, in relation to the controversial death of late singer Mohbad.
The audio clip, which has since gone viral, features a conversation in Yoruba where Zlatan reportedly expresses hesitation to involve himself in the aftermath of Mohbad’s passing, citing the chaos and backlash that often accompany such public discourse on social media.
VeryDarkMan, who shared the recording on his Instagram page, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Zlatan Ibile, demanding a public explanation for his silence during the early calls for justice surrounding Mohbad’s death.
“I expect in 48 hours Zlatan will come out to explain what he knows and why he didn’t speak out when we were seeking justice for Mohbad,” VDM stated.
Addressing critics who questioned his decision to revive the case, VeryDarkMan accused many of being disingenuous about their interest in seeking justice. He emphasized that Mohbad had not yet been buried, claiming the singer’s “spirit is still wandering.”
“A lot of people knew the truth and used intimidation to suppress it. Zlatan, you kept quiet,” he added. “If you ask me why I brought the case back, you’re not a real person. The case is not over. I want justice.”
VDM’s stance has sparked debate online, with some netizens defending Zlatan’s decision to remain silent, while others urged the artist to break his silence and share his side of the story.
The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death continues to unfold, with growing pressure on key industry figures to speak up as the demand for accountability intensifies.
