WAEC Result Glitch is a ‘Reckless Gamble’ says Former WAEC Head Funke Opeifa

WAEC result glitch

WAEC result glitch has been branded a “reckless gamble” by Chief Funke Opeifa, a former head of WAEC (West African Examinations Council), who says the recent technical failure, which left thousands of 2025 WASSCE results temporarily inaccessible, threatens trust in the exam body and jeopardizes students’ futures.

According to Opeifa, the technical failure—where thousands of 2025 WASSCE results became temporarily inaccessible—was not just a minor hiccup. She said it jeopardises candidates’ futures and demanded WAEC take full responsibility, ensure transparency, and prevent a repeat.

The glitch forced WAEC to temporarily shut down its result-checker portal while they fixed errors affecting scores in key subjects where paper serialization had been introduced.

Students and parents had already begun voicing frustration on social media, questioning result fairness and demanding swift corrections.

While WAEC worked to resolve the technical issues within 24 hours, Opeifa called for a full independent review to reaffirm the integrity of future results and safeguard students’ prospects.
