In a sudden turn of events, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has formally dissolved the Sokubo-led national executive, appointing a 60-day transition committee to steer the council through the next phase. The executive—led by Ambassador Sokubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo and Solomon Adodo—was dissolved following an extraordinary management meeting held on August 7, 2025, in Abuja, attended by a wide range of NYCN stakeholders.
A review exposed troubling irregularities, including criminal forgery, constitutional tampering, and questionable affiliations. The council identified amendments to the 2018 constitution that extended tenure limits and expanded the age range for members from 18–35 to 18–45, deepening internal divisions.
To steady the ship, Comrade Gbenga Adedamola, National Commander of the National Man O’ War, has been appointed head of the National Transition Committee (NTC). It will run operations for 60 days, with a mandate to restore order, reaffirm constitutional integrity, and prepare for a credible elective congress in October 2025.
