Meta Rolls Out AI-Powered Voice Translations for Reels on Facebook & Instagram

This screenshot illustrates Meta's Reels translator UI on Facebook and Instagram, including the “Translate your voice with Meta AI” toggle and the optional lip-sync setting. It captures how creators can effortlessly make content multilingual while maintaining authenticity.

Meta’s Bold Move Towards Global Accessibility

Meta has officially launched its AI-powered voice translation feature for Reels on both Facebook and Instagram—a powerful tool that automatically translates and dubs creator audio between English and Spanish.
At launch, the feature is available globally, wherever “Meta AI” is supported. Creators can simply enable the option before publishing their content, instantly making their Reels accessible to a broader, multilingual audience.

How It Works: Faithful Dubbing with a Personal Touch

  • After recording a Reel, creators can toggle on “Translate your voice with Meta AI” and optionally enable lip-sync, ensuring the dubbed audio matches mouth movements for a seamless experience.
  • Meta’s advanced AI retains the original voice tone and inflection, making the translated audio feel authentic rather than robotic.
  • Creators get to preview the AI-translated version before publishing and can disable it anytime—without altering the original content.

Who Can Access It?

The feature is being rolled out to:

  • Facebook creators with 1,000+ followers
  • All public Instagram accounts, in markets where Meta AI is available
When published, the translated version of a Reel is automatically shown to users whose app languages match the translation. A small label will notify viewers that the content has been auto-translated.

Insights for Creators: Track Your Global Reach

Meta is adding a new language-based engagement metric in creators’ Insights dashboard—letting them track views by language and see how well they’re resonating with global audiences. Additionally:

  • Facebook creators can upload up to 20 custom dubbed audio tracks per Reel via the Business Suite, to reach niche audiences beyond the English ↔ Spanish capability.
  • Best practices suggested by Meta: record facing the camera, speak clearly, avoid background noise/music, and limit speakers to two for best accuracy.
