Saudi Arabia conducts cardiac surgeries in Kano

Cardiac surgeries in Kano

Kano, Nigeria – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has successfully completed a five-day medical outreach in Kano State, providing free open-heart surgeries and cardiac catheterisations for patients suffering from critical heart conditions.

The campaign, which ran from 18 to 22 August, brought together a 25-member team of highly skilled Saudi medical volunteers who carried out numerous complex cardiac procedures with exceptional success. The operations, all completed at no cost to patients, brought renewed hope to individuals and families who would otherwise struggle with the prohibitive cost of such treatments.

Global Humanitarian Impact

The Kano initiative is part of KSrelief’s global medical intervention programme, which has provided life-saving healthcare services in various countries. In Yemen, the centre’s teams have conducted dozens of open-heart surgeries and over 140 cardiac catheterisations. Similarly, in Tanzania, pediatric open-heart surgeries have been performed, ensuring that children with severe cardiac conditions receive timely care.

In Mauritania, KSrelief pioneered 37 minimally invasive laparoscopic heart surgeries—a rare and expensive procedure in most parts of Africa. The organisation’s reach also extends to Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, where hundreds of cardiac surgeries and catheterisations have been completed with high success rates.

Medical Diplomacy and Humanitarian Outreach

KSrelief’s intervention in Kano is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to use medical diplomacy to foster global goodwill while addressing critical health gaps in vulnerable communities. By offering quality healthcare at no cost, the centre continues to demonstrate its commitment to alleviating suffering and improving health outcomes globally.

Officials have praised the success of the Kano outreach, noting that the programme does more than just save lives—it strengthens international partnerships and builds local capacity through collaboration with Nigerian medical teams.
