Andy Odeh, NNPC new Corporate Communications Officer

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced the appointment of two seasoned executives into strategic leadership positions, strengthening its corporate communications and stakeholder engagement drive.

In a statement on Tuesday, the company said Andy Odeh has been appointed as the new Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Morenike Adewunmi takes on the role of Chief Relations Officer.

Andy Odeh: A Veteran in Communications

Mr Odeh brings over 30 years of professional experience spanning communications, advertising, broadcasting, and the oil and gas industry. Before joining NNPC Ltd, he had a distinguished 26-year career at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he held multiple leadership positions in Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, Community Development, Government Relations, and Sustainable Development.

He played a key role in NLNG’s rebranding and was instrumental in implementing one of Nigeria’s most successful micro-credit schemes for host communities. Odeh is also credited with instituting the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, which continues to encourage excellence in journalism.

An alumnus of the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Mr Odeh is widely respected for his expertise in brand communications and stakeholder engagement.

Morenike Adewunmi, appointed Chief Relations Officer of NNPC.

Mrs Adewunmi, a lawyer by training, has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, primarily with the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). Her career has focused on regulatory compliance, stakeholder management, and advocacy.

At Shell, she held pivotal roles including Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager, where she successfully built strong relationships with government institutions and regulatory agencies. Known for her leadership, emotional intelligence, and ability to navigate complex external landscapes, Adewunmi is recognized as a subject matter expert on non-technical risks.

She holds a law degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and professional certification from the Nigerian Law School.

Strengthening Corporate Engagement

NNPC Ltd said the appointments demonstrate its commitment to enhancing transparency, communication, and engagement with its stakeholders.

The development comes after the exit of Olufemi Soneye, the former Chief Corporate Communications Officer, who stepped down in June to focus on family and personal responsibilities.
