The ADC Ogun governorship primary has taken a dramatic turn as the Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the factional leadership of Emmanuel Famojuro, officially declared Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe (BCO) as the authentic winner of the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 elections.
The announcement came amid growing controversy following conflicting results released by different factions within the party regarding who truly emerged as the ADC governorship candidate in Ogun State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olumide Onabajo, the ADC dismissed an earlier declaration that named Otunba Jimi Lawal as the winner of the primary election.
ADC Rejects Earlier Result Declaring Jimi Lawal Winner
According to reports, Barrister Adebimpe Adelowo, who was identified as Secretary of the Ogun State Primary Election Committee, had announced on Monday that Jimi Lawal won the governorship primary after polling 19,428 votes.
The earlier result showed:
- Jimi Lawal — 19,428 votes
- Biodun Ogundipe — 5,775 votes
- Dr. Marie Odusina — 4,825 votes
However, the ADC faction loyal to Emmanuel Famojuro described the announcement as “unauthorized, misleading, null, and void.”
The party insisted that Adelowo was not a recognized member of the official electoral committee approved by the national leadership of the ADC.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Barrister Adebimpe Adelowo was not a member of the duly constituted electoral committee sent to Ogun State by the national leadership of our great party to conduct the governorship primary election,” the statement said.
The party further argued that Adelowo lacked the constitutional authority to declare any governorship primary result on behalf of the ADC in Ogun State.
Biodun Ogundipe Declared Authentic Winner
According to the party leadership, the authentic governorship primary election was conducted peacefully across all wards in Ogun State under the supervision of the officially recognized electoral committee.
At the end of the exercise, the committee reportedly declared Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe, popularly known as BCO, as the winner of the primary.
Another set of results announced by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Adeniyi Adams, showed:
- Biodun Ogundipe — 9,370 votes
- Jimi Lawal — 6,812 votes
- Dr. Marie Odusina — 2,349 votes
The party maintained that the exercise was transparent, credible, and witnessed by party stakeholders, observers, and security agencies.
ADC Warns Against “Fake Results”
The Ogun ADC leadership strongly condemned attempts by what it described as unauthorized individuals trying to circulate fabricated results capable of creating confusion within the party.
The statement warned that such actions could undermine internal democracy and destabilize the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We strongly condemn every attempt by unauthorized individuals to mislead party members and create confusion within the public space through the circulation of fabricated results and false declarations,” the party stated.
The leadership called on members, supporters, and the general public to disregard any conflicting result not issued by the officially recognized electoral committee.
Ogundipe Promises Youth Empowerment and Development
The party described Biodun Ogundipe as a candidate committed to transforming Ogun State through technology-driven development, industrial growth, and youth empowerment.
According to the statement, Ogundipe plans to focus on:
- Youth empowerment and job creation
- Technology and industrial development
- Agricultural investment
- Improved healthcare delivery
- Inclusive governance and competence-driven leadership
The party added that the future of Ogun State must be built on unity, inclusiveness, and genuine service to the people.
Political Tension Builds Ahead of 2027
The controversy surrounding the ADC Ogun governorship primary highlights growing political tension within opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political observers believe the internal dispute could affect the party’s unity if not resolved quickly by the national leadership.
Despite the crisis, the Ogun ADC leadership insisted that the party remains united, focused, and determined to secure victory in the next governorship election.
