In a significant move under the banner of “Jibrin returns to APC 2027 realignment”, Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin of the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State has announced his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and formally declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
On Sunday in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area, Kano State, Jibrin made the public return to APC. He posted on Facebook on Monday that his supporters unanimously resolved to abandon the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya and align with the APC.
He wrote:
“Today, in a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano.
The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for a second term in office.” Punch Newspapers
Jibrin had departed the APC in May 2022, later aligning with the NNPP and its Kwankwasiyya movement. His return comes less than two months after his resignation from NNPP following his expulsion over alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of membership dues.
His defection is widely viewed as a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria—especially significant in Kano, a key northern state.
By reaffirming his commitment to the APC and endorsing Tinubu’s 2027 run, Jibrin’s move marked by the term “Jibrin returns to APC 2027 realignment” signals more than a personal political shift—it reflects strategic positioning in a state and region pivotal to Nigeria’s next electoral cycle. For watchers of Nigerian politics, this development is a reminder that 2027 is already shaping up on the ground.
