Chowdeck Hits ₦1.4bn in Black Friday Sales as Nigeria’s Food Delivery Sector Surges

Chowdeck Black Friday sales 2025

Chowdeck, one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing food delivery platforms, recorded a major milestone during its 2025 Black Friday event, driving ₦1.4 billion (about $975,909) in sales over four days, according to data from its live dashboard.

The campaign, which ran from Friday, November 28 to Monday, December 1, featured discounted meals, free delivery vouchers, and flash price drops across Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, and other major cities.

By 9:08 pm on Black Friday, the company had already surpassed double its 2024 sales volume with 51,000 fulfilled orders. At the end of the four-day window, Chowdeck closed at 182,740 total orders, covering over 727,000 kilometres—its highest logistics output during a promo period.

The surge builds on the company’s rapid growth. In October, Chowdeck crossed 1 million monthly orders nationwide, with daily volumes rising from 30,000 to over 40,000. CEO and Co-founder Femi Aluko described the milestone as proof of what’s possible “when people believe in what we’re building.”

Nigeria’s food delivery market—valued at $1.04 billion in 2024 and projected to hit $2.49 billion by 2033—continues to benefit from rising internet access, urban convenience needs, and improved logistics infrastructure.

Chowdeck, launched in 2021, has grown through a logistics-first strategy focused on geolocation, rider incentives, and demand batching. The company has also expanded its offerings through acquisitions and funding, including a $9 million Series A led by Novastar Ventures in 2025.

Competitor Glovo also ran Black Friday deals this year but has not disclosed sales figures.

With over 20,000 riders completing 40,000+ daily orders, Chowdeck’s dominance reflects a shift in urban Nigerian habits, where food delivery has become an essential convenience amid rising costs, long commutes, and demanding work schedules.
