The Nigeria Police recruitment deadline has been extended to February 8, 2026 to allow more Nigerians to apply for available police jobs. The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) made the announcement on Monday after receiving over 400,000 applications for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 constables.

The recruitment portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, was originally meant to close in late January. However, the PSC said it decided to extend the deadline by two weeks to give more people — especially from states with low application numbers — a better chance to apply.

According to the PSC and NPF, several states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna had many people apply, while others like Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra recorded fewer applications. The extension is meant to ensure fair representation from all parts of the country in the recruitment exercise.

The PSC is urging eligible Nigerians to complete their applications before the new closing date. Applicants must register and submit their details online through the official portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

Officials also called on state governments, local councils, community leaders, religious groups, and others to help spread the word and encourage more qualified candidates to apply before the deadline.

The PSC and NPF said they remain committed to conducting a transparent and fair recruitment process that gives all qualified Nigerians an equal opportunity to serve in the police force.
