Former Chelsea and France defender William Gallas believes it is only a matter of time before Cole Palmer completes a dream move to Manchester United, claiming the transfer will happen once the Chelsea star reproduces another standout season.

Despite coming through Manchester City’s academy and spending 13 years at the Etihad Stadium before his £42.5 million move to Stamford Bridge in 2023, Palmer has never hidden the fact that he grew up as a boyhood Manchester United fan.

The Condition for a Move to Old Trafford

Speaking via iPredicta, Gallas emphasized that while a immediate transfer isn’t on the horizon, a future switch to Old Trafford makes total sense if Palmer retains his desire to play for his boyhood club:

“I don’t think Cole Palmer will go right now. I don’t think it’s time to go right now,” Gallas stated. “He will definitely go to Manchester United in the future if he’s a big fan, if he’s got a dream to play for Man United, he will definitely go there, but right now I don’t think so. I think he needs to have one more big season as he did two years ago, before he got his injury problem, then he might move.”

Gallas’ comments come shortly after Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos completed a £50 million move (£48m up front plus £2m in add-ons) from Chelsea to Manchester United.

Upon finalizing his arrival at Old Trafford, Santos revealed that Wythenshawe-born Palmer personally reached out to congratulate him and share insights about living in Manchester:
