BREAKING: Lawmaker Urgently Petitions Inspector General Over Explosive Criminal Breach of Trust Allegations

Ex-Lawmaker Raises Alarm, Petitions IGP Over Stolen Porsche SUV in Alleged Criminal Breach of Trust

Abuja, Nigeria — A former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Uche Nwole, has filed an urgent petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, over what he describes as a shocking case of criminal breach of trust and the illegal sale of his luxury Porsche Cayenne SUV by a mechanic in Abuja.

The petition, dated March 28, 2025, was submitted by Ciena Consulting Legal and Regulatory Consultants on behalf of the former lawmaker. It calls for the immediate intervention of the IGP and a transfer of the investigation from the FCT Police Command, citing concerns about interference and deliberate delays.

“Our client, as a law-abiding citizen, is calling on your good office to investigate this matter thoroughly, recover the SUV, and ensure that all involved are brought to justice,” the petition reads.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Hon. Nwole detailed how his N180 million ($148,000) Porsche Cayenne—bearing registration number “ME 3”—was taken in for repairs and allegedly sold off without his consent.

From Minor Repairs to Major Scandal

According to Nwole, the ordeal began in September 2023 after his vehicle sustained minor damage in an accident. Initially, he approached a Lebanese-owned auto workshop, but later handed the car over to a trusted acquaintance—a mechanic and son of a former colleague—who promised to import parts and fix the car at his workshop in Gudu, Abuja.

Months passed with no updates. When Nwole demanded the return of the car, the mechanic asked for ₦400,000 to release it, which Nwole paid. Shockingly, upon visiting the workshop, the former lawmaker discovered the vehicle was gone.

“I later found out that my SUV had been sold without my knowledge or consent,” Nwole said.

Things took a dramatic turn when the suspect’s mother intervened, requesting an additional ₦2.9 million for the vehicle’s release. A meeting at the Apo Police Station ensued, where the DPO reportedly sided with Nwole’s position, stating that further payment without access to the car was unjustifiable.

A Second Fraud: Fake Porsche Presented to Police

In a bizarre twist, Nwole claims that after paying the ₦2.9 million to help police recover the car as evidence, the suspect’s family delivered a completely different, rickety old-model Porsche Cayenne to the authorities—an attempt to pass it off as his.

“Thankfully, I tracked down those who sold them the fake Porsche, and they made statements confirming the fraud to the police,” he said.

Allegations of Interference and Intimidation

Nwole further alleges that the suspect’s mother is using her political and police contacts to frustrate the investigation. He claims that retired senior police officers have been placing calls to those handling the case in an attempt to pressure and intimidate investigators.

“This is why I have taken the matter to the IGP. I believe only his direct intervention can bring justice in this clear case of criminal breach of trust and fraud,” Nwole emphasized.

A Call for Justice

With public trust in law enforcement at stake, the former lawmaker is demanding full accountability and the return of his stolen vehicle. His petition underscores the broader concern that justice can be manipulated by influence and connections—unless higher authorities step in.
