Julien Alfred Shatters 31-Year Record at Stockholm Diamond League with Blazing 100m Win

Julien Alfred continues to make a strong case as the sprinter to beat this season, delivering a stunning performance at the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday to break a 31-year-old meeting record.

Running just her second 100m race of the season, the Saint Lucian star clocked a blistering time of 10.75 seconds (0.9 wind)—a season’s best that earned her a second Diamond League victory in just four days. Alfred’s commanding display left her competitors trailing, including training partner Dina Asher-Smith, who finished second with a season-best 10.93s. Côte d’Ivoire’s Marie Josée Ta Lou-Smith followed closely in third at 11.00s, narrowly ahead of Maia McCoy at 11.02s.

Alfred’s time now ranks as the second-fastest 100m in the world this year, just behind Melissa Jefferson-Wooden’s 10.73s. Impressively, it’s only 0.03 seconds shy of Alfred’s personal best of 10.72s, which secured her the gold at the Paris Olympics.

Her unbeaten run this season and the consistency with which she’s delivering top-tier performances place her firmly in contention for the world title at the Tokyo Championships this summer, where she is poised to challenge defending champion Sha’Carri Richardson.

With every race, Julien Alfred is proving not just her form, but her dominance—and with the way she’s running, that winning streak may be far from over.
