The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that it will conduct a mop-up examination for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Friday, June 28, 2025.
This special exam is meant for candidates who were unable to sit for the main UTME due to biometric verification failure or other technical challenges during the previous exam window.
According to JAMB, the mop-up is not for everyone, but strictly for candidates who:
Only verified candidates will be notified via email and SMS about their eligibility and exam center assignments.
JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin emphasized the board’s commitment to fairness:
“The mop-up exam is to ensure that no qualified and duly registered candidate is left behind due to system errors or genuine complications beyond their control.”
He warned that impersonators and candidates with invalid biometric data would not be accommodated.
Over 1.9 million candidates registered for the 2025 UTME. This mop-up exam could affect the admission opportunities of thousands who faced genuine technical disruptions.
As admission processes into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education move into their next phase, this second chance is critical for eligible candidates.
