Barcelona’s move to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United could hit a major roadblock as LaLiga may block the registration of the England international due to ongoing financial limitations.

According to Sky Sports, while the Spanish champions have agreed to a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, the transfer is far from complete. The Catalan giants will reportedly need to offload players—either through sales or loans—before they can register Rashford with the league.

Rashford’s unveiling could happen as early as Wednesday, but LaLiga’s stringent financial regulations are once again proving to be a stumbling block for Barcelona, whose salary cap issues have plagued them for multiple transfer windows.

This situation is reminiscent of the club’s failed attempt to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams earlier in the summer. Barcelona were unable to assure Williams of his registration, which ultimately ended their pursuit.

With LaLiga keeping a close watch on financial compliance, Barcelona will need to act swiftly to balance their books if they are to finalize Rashford’s arrival
