Court Grants Scott Iguma Bail in PWAN Defamation Case

The Lagos State High Court has granted bail to prominent media personality and influencer, Scott Iguma, just three days after he was remanded in prison over a defamation lawsuit filed by real estate company, PWAN.

The case stems from Scott’s public accusations made last week, in which he called out PWAN for allegedly defrauding customers by issuing receipts without providing land. Iguma, who submitted over 130 victim petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claimed the company had misled numerous clients.

Following these allegations, PWAN’s founder, Augustine Onwumere, had Scott arrested last Thursday. By Friday morning, the court had ordered his remand in prison, triggering a wave of outrage on social media.

Several influencers and public figures, including Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and singer Kokopee, voiced their concerns, accusing both PWAN and the police of silencing whistleblowers and suppressing justice.

In a video update shared online, Kokopee confirmed that the court has now granted bail to Scott Iguma. He said:

“After the hearing, the judge has granted Scott Iguma bail. His legal team are currently working round the clock to make sure all bail conditions are met. One thing I must tell Nigerians is that we can not be silent when it looks like oppression is around the corner. Injustice for one is injustice to all.
PWAN be warned, if you say you are innocent, come forward with proof.”

The case continues to stir public discourse around consumer rights, corporate accountability, and freedom of expression in Nigeria.
