Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has attributed his team’s stunning 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-final to their relentless performance and mental resilience in tough conditions.
The French giants delivered a dominant display on Wednesday, outclassing the Spanish side at the MetLife Stadium. Goals from Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonçalo Ramos sealed the emphatic win, sending PSG to the final in style.
Speaking after the match, Enrique praised his players for their exceptional effort, especially under challenging weather conditions.
“I think we did a really good job and played a great match,” Enrique told PSG TV. “It is a very special moment for us, for Parisians, for all the supporters, and the entire club.”
Enrique emphasized that his players maintained focus and intensity despite the stifling heat, which he acknowledged had an impact on both teams.
“Everyone saw the stifling heat, it is incredible to play in that. I think it affected both teams [PSG and Real Madrid], but we kept playing and fighting,” he added.
The former Spain national team coach also highlighted that PSG’s journey to the final reflects the incredible season the club is having, and he affirmed their strong ambition to lift the Club World Cup trophy.
“We are happy, we are in the final and it has been an incredible season. We want to win this [Club World Cup] final,” Enrique concluded.
PSG will now face Chelsea in the final showdown on Sunday, aiming to secure their first-ever Club World Cup title.
