“Diogo Jota’s Emotional Post Before Tragedy Pays Tribute to His Special Wedding Day”

The football world is mourning the sudden death of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who tragically lost his life in a car accident alongside his brother, André Jota, in Zamora, Spain, on Thursday.

Just days before the fatal crash, Jota had shared a heartfelt post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, celebrating his recent marriage to longtime partner Rute Cardoso. The ceremony took place on June 22, 2025, in Porto, Portugal.

On June 28, the Portuguese forward posted photos from the wedding, captioned simply:

“June 22, 2025. Yes, forever.”

According to reports, the accident occurred when the Lamborghini the Jota brothers were traveling in suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle. The car veered off the road and caught fire, resulting in their untimely deaths.

Jota’s club, Liverpool FC, responded to the news with a statement calling his passing “devastating.” The club and football fans worldwide have since paid tribute to the 27-year-old, who was a key player for the Reds since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020.

Over his five years at Anfield, Jota made 182 appearances, helping the club win multiple trophies, including the 2024/25 Premier League title, the FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.

Meanwhile, Spanish authorities have confirmed an investigation is underway to determine the full cause of the accident.
