An old but golden interview of Nigerian singer and music executive Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, is trending again as fans revisit the story of how he met his now-wife, Temi Otedola.
In the resurfaced 2018 chat with Ghana’s Delay TV, Mr Eazi, now 34, shared how destiny, chance and family connections played a role in his relationship with Temi, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.
“I met Temi at an event her sister invited me to. Her sister was the DJ at the event. By the time Temi came to the table, her sister was already playing, so obviously we had to socialise. Suddenly, it was just me and Temi,” Mr Eazi said.
He recalled recognising Temi as DJ Cuppy’s sister but admitted he didn’t know much about her family’s wealth at the time. “I had never dated any popular lady or actress before Temi. I was always into people I connected with.”
Mr Eazi revealed that Temi’s family, including her father Femi Otedola, welcomed him warmly. He described how Mr Otedola’s belief in destiny helped smooth their relationship.
“He believes strongly in destiny… He was not trying to bargain with me. He knows I am a good guy. Temi herself is not like that. The Otedola family is not the typical rich family; they do normal things.”
This acceptance, he said, was not only about making Temi happy but also a genuine endorsement of their love and shared values.
Back in 2018, Mr Eazi spoke about his fantasy of having a quiet, intimate wedding with a maximum of 50 guests.
“I always fantasised about weddings in quiet, coded places like an island, with just family and friends. No cameras allowed.”
Fast-forward to 2025, and the couple married in three ceremonies across three countries.
During his wedding speech, Femi Otedola even recalled knowing from their first meeting that Mr Eazi would one day become Temi’s husband.
Mr Eazi also opened up about the simplicity of their relationship. Temi, he said, values time and effort over expensive gifts, accompanying him on projects like his Tamale water project and often choosing buses or trains over luxury cars.
“She prefers me spending time with her, maybe going to the cinema, rather than spending money on bags. For her, time is more valuable,” he said.
He also refuted claims that Temi invested in his music, stressing that their relationship is built on mutual respect and independence.
