Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he will take a significant break from football management once his time at the Premier League club comes to an end.
Speaking in a recent interview with GQ Spain, the 54-year-old Spaniard disclosed that his decision to take a sabbatical after City is already firmly made. Guardiola, who joined the club in 2016, has won an impressive 18 trophies during his tenure — including six Premier League titles and the coveted UEFA Champions League.
“I know that after this stage with City I’m going to stop, that’s for sure,” Guardiola said. “It’s decided, more than decided. I don’t know how long I’ll stop for — a year, two years, three years, five, ten, fifteen — I don’t know.”
His current contract, signed in November 2023, runs until 2027. After that, the celebrated coach says his focus will shift toward rest and personal well-being.
“I will leave after this spell with City because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body,” he added.
Guardiola’s revelation has sparked discussions across the football world, with many speculating about who could eventually replace the decorated manager and what his absence might mean for Manchester City’s future.
