Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has publicly disowned a meme coin falsely linked to his name, describing it as a fraudulent scheme.
The Afrobeats sensation issued a clear warning to fans via his Instagram page, stressing that he has no involvement in cryptocurrency or any form of online coin business.
“I don’t do any internet ‘coin’ business. I see it as fraud and I have no interest in any of that,” Burna Boy wrote.
“So if you see anyone using my name for such, please disregard or report them.”
The warning comes amid growing concerns over celebrities being falsely associated with cryptocurrency tokens to lure unsuspecting fans and investors.
Burna Boy’s statement reinforces a trend among public figures distancing themselves from the volatile and often deceptive world of meme coins, many of which lack legitimacy or clear purpose.
Fans have been urged to remain vigilant, avoid engaging with unauthenticated crypto schemes, and report any suspicious activity to relevant platforms or authorities.
