Jorge Jesus, newly appointed manager of Al-Nassr, has expressed his determination to help club captain Cristiano Ronaldo win titles during his time at the Saudi club.
Speaking during his official unveiling on Monday evening, the Portuguese tactician admitted that Ronaldo played a major role in his decision to accept the role.
“Without Cristiano Ronaldo, I certainly would not be here [Al-Nassr],” Jesus stated.
The veteran coach emphasized the shared ambition between himself and Ronaldo, stressing the importance of ending the club’s current title drought.
“The motivation is high. Al-Nassr needs to win titles, just like Cristiano Ronaldo, who has always won everything at the clubs he’s played for. He has not won practically anything at this one yet, so I will see if I can help him,” Jesus added.
The 69-year-old coach also noted that their shared nationality and language would make communication and collaboration easier.
“We speak the same language, so it will be easy. We are Portuguese.”
Jesus replaces Stefano Pioli, who departed Al-Nassr following a lackluster campaign that saw the club finish third in the Saudi Pro League, failing to meet expectations despite having global stars like Ronaldo in the squad.
With Jesus now at the helm, fans and pundits alike will be watching closely to see whether the new leadership can finally deliver the silverware that has so far eluded Ronaldo at the Saudi club.
