Lagos-based KEY Academy, a pioneering 21st-century school for learners aged 18 months to 18 years, has been named a Top 10 finalist in the Innovation category of the 2025 World’s Best School Prizes, organized by T4 Education. This marks the first time a West African school has reached this stage.
Founded in 2019 on a project-based learning model, KEY Academy empowers critical thinking and real-world problem-solving through locally relevant yet globally inspired curricula. Expansion continues—its secondary campus is slated to open in September 2027.

What’s Next for KEY Academy
- The winners, including one in the Innovation category, will be announced in October 2025. KEY Academy is also under consideration for the “Community Choice Award,” which is determined by public votes.
- The school continues national expansion and plans to launch an edtech platform to share resources and teacher training modules across all 36 Nigerian states.
