Mandy Kiss and Lagos Commissioner for Youth and Social Development
Barely a week after making headlines with her controversial Guinness World Record stunt, popular content creator Ayomiposi “Mandy Kiss” Oluwadahunsi has been appointed as a brand ambassador for the Lagos State Government’s Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA) campaign.
Mandy Kiss had earlier stirred massive buzz on social media when she announced her plan to attempt a “sex marathon” with 100 men in 24 hours as part of a supposed Guinness World Record attempt. The announcement triggered outrage, leading the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, to petition Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to order her arrest and subject her to a drug test.
However, Mandy Kiss later admitted that her declaration was a publicity stunt designed to revive her declining social media engagement. Two days after retracting the announcement, the Lagos State Government unveiled her as one of its ambassadors against drug abuse.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday via his official X handle.
He explained that the government’s decision was not to condemn Mandy Kiss but to redirect her influence towards a positive cause.
“Mandykiss had initially declared her intent to attempt this record, but as a government that listens, we heard her subsequent expressions and responded swiftly with empathy,” Mr Ogunlende said.
“We engaged in candid discussions, assessed the situation, and explored healthier, more constructive paths forward. What was initially intended as the beginning of her controversial record attempt turned into a pivotal moment of redirection.”
The commissioner stressed that Mandy Kiss’s large followership—over 400,000 followers on Instagram—makes her a powerful voice among Nigerian youth. Rather than dismiss her, the state chose to engage her positively in the fight against substance abuse.
Ogunlende emphasized that society thrives when people are guided with compassion instead of cancellation. He described Mandy’s new role as a transformation story that could inspire young Nigerians.
“Her journey reflects transformation rather than cancellation, a powerful illustration of what is achievable when young individuals are met with love, guidance, and opportunities for positive growth,” he added.
He also pointed out that drug abuse remains a major pandemic plaguing communities, and the state government cannot fight it alone. Partnering with influential figures like Mandy Kiss is a strategy to reach more young people with the “Say No to Drugs” message.
Reacting to the appointment, Mandy Kiss took to Instagram to thank Governor Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for the honour.
She described the ambassadorial role as a new chapter in her life, pledging to serve diligently.
“New chapter unlocked!!! Officially a LASKADA Ambassador! Ready to stand tall in the fight against drug abuse and inspire our youth to choose purpose over drugs. A drug-free Lagos is possible, and it starts with us!” she wrote.
She further encouraged her followers to join hands in building a Lagos where young people thrive free from drug addiction.
From a controversial stunt that drew criticism nationwide to becoming the face of an anti-drug campaign, Mandy Kiss’s story highlights how social media influence can be redirected for nation-building.
