Global rap icon Drake has stirred conversation in the hip-hop world by throwing his full support behind London rappers, claiming they are unmatched in lyrical ability.
Speaking during his headline performance at the 2025 Wireless Festival in London on Saturday night, the Canadian superstar praised UK lyricists, stating they are the best in the world—even above American rappers.
“When I talk about my love for London and London rappers – the best lyricists in the world. Mark my words. I don’t care about what anybody says, nobody can out-rap London. Nobody,” Drake said to thunderous applause.
He quickly clarified that his comments were not a jab at his home country or the American rap scene.
“No disrespect to America, no disrespect to my country, but nobody in the world can out-rap London rappers. This is the best, highest level. And this is what I inspires to be,” he added.
Drake, who has long maintained close ties to the UK music scene and collaborated with several British rappers including Skepta, Giggs, and Dave, continues to show deep admiration for the country’s rap culture.
His statement has reignited the global UK vs US rap debate, drawing both support and criticism from fans and fellow artists alike.
