Tinubu approves new Federal Fire Service boss—that is the official word following the announcement that Deputy Controller‑General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi will become the next Controller‑General of the Federal Fire Service, effective August 14, 2025. The promotion was confirmed by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board in a statement issued via Major General A. M. Jibril (retd.) on behalf of the President. The outgoing Controller‑General, Engineer Abdulganiyu Jaji, will retire on August 13, 2025, upon turning 60.
Olumode Adeyemi brings vast experience to his new role—having risen through the ranks after transferring from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service, he most recently served as Deputy Controller‑General in charge of Human Resources at the FFS Headquarters. He has attended key in-service and command courses both locally and internationally and is affiliated with multiple professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Institute of Corporate Administration, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management.
The Board expressed appreciation to outgoing CG Jaji, commending the strides he made in public fire safety awareness, capacity-building, and infrastructure development during his tenure. With Adeyemi stepping in, the mandate continues—to enhance efficiency, strengthen firefighting capacity across senatorial zones, and uphold public safety with renewed vigour.
