Tinubu Visits Imo to Commission Legacy Projects

Governor Hope Uzodimma and President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is visiting Imo State today, 30 September 2025, to commission a series of major infrastructure projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration.

This marks the president’s second official visit to the South-East since assuming office, following his first trip to the state in January 2024.

Key Projects to be Commissioned

During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate several strategic projects across Owerri and its environs, including:

  • Owerri–Mbaise–Obowo–Umuahia Road (rebuilt) – a major inter-state road expected to improve connectivity between Imo and Abia States.
  • A new flyover linking Port Harcourt Road and Onitsha Road, with significant upgrades around the Assumpta Cathedral Roundabout in Owerri.
  • The rebuilt Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, a landmark facility designed to host national and international events.

Book Launch

As part of the visit, President Tinubu will also unveil Governor Uzodimma’s new book titled:
“A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria.”

The book highlights the governor’s reflections on governance, development strategies, and Nigeria’s democratic journey.

Political Significance

Observers say the president’s visit underscores his administration’s commitment to fostering development in the South-East and strengthening ties with the region. It also comes at a time when infrastructure delivery and federal-state cooperation remain central to Nigeria’s broader development agenda.

For Governor Uzodimma, the commissioning of these “legacy projects” is expected to boost his political standing in Imo State and beyond, showcasing his administration’s record in infrastructure development.
