Tonto Dikeh Gave Her Life to Christ and Shares Testimony of Deliverance from Smoking, Alcohol and Anger at Church Service

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has publicly shared a powerful testimony of what she described as her spiritual deliverance from smoking, alcohol addiction, masturbation, and long-standing anger issues during a Sunday service at Streams of Joy International Church.

The actress gave the testimony during the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) service, led by the church’s founder, Pastor Jerry Eze, where she spoke openly before the congregation about her personal struggles and transformation.

Dikeh revealed that she began smoking at the age of 13 and battled alcohol addiction for several years, describing her freedom as the result of divine intervention rather than personal effort.

“I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation too,” she said, explaining that she had experienced troubling spiritual encounters from childhood. She noted that coming forward to testify was difficult, as she almost backed out over concerns about public perception.

“The devil tried to tell me to protect my image. But I told myself, what image? The God that gave me the image is the same God that can take it away,” she told the congregation.

According to the actress, a major turning point occurred after attending the Ghana Prayer Conference, where she noticed a sudden end to what she described as years of spiritual oppression.

“I realised that the weak man who held me captive all my years in my dream ran away,” she said, describing the moment as a clear sign of deliverance.

Dikeh also opened up about struggling with what she called “demonic anger,” which she said negatively affected her relationships and emotional well-being for years.

“An anger that destroyed my life. Everybody had to feel it. But praying with NSPPD, God took all of those away and gave me peace,” she said.

The actress stated that the peace she now experiences is something she had never known before.

“I am 40 years old, and I can tell you I have never known peace until now. I am living in it,” she added.

Reflecting on how her smoking habit began, Dikeh said early exposure at home played a role and urged parents to be mindful of their habits around children.

“I started smoking because my dad was a smoker. Something as little as that habit can inhabit the lives of your children,” she said.

She further revealed that after intense prayers, she no longer feels cravings for cigarettes or alcohol.

“My body does not ask for it. My body is repelling it. Today, it is broken,” she declared.

Pastor Jerry Eze later prayed for the actress, declaring that “the body of sin is broken” and describing her as “a voice in her generation.”

Following the service, Dikeh shared photos from the church on Instagram with the caption: “A living testimony of mercy. One God spared, restored, and commissioned.”

In recent months, the actress has been vocal about her renewed Christian faith, describing her spiritual journey as one marked by peace, restoration, and a commitment to serving God.
