Fresh off Nigeria’s record-breaking victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has issued an inspiring message to young Nigerian girls, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with passion and determination.
Ajibade, who was named the Player of the Tournament, shared her reflections and gratitude in a powerful post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, following Nigeria’s hard-fought win against hosts Morocco in the final.
“We did it! Mission X accomplished!” Ajibade wrote. “Words can’t fully express what this moment means. This isn’t just our 10th WAFCON trophy, it’s a testament to the relentless spirit of this team.”
She extended her appreciation to the fans, describing them as the “12th player” whose support resonated with the team throughout the tournament.
“To my sisters, my teammates, I’m so incredibly proud of every one of you. We did it together against all odds,” she added.
Addressing young girls across the country, the 25-year-old forward offered a five-point message filled with encouragement:
“To the young girls with dreams in their eyes: this is for you.
Hold on to your passion.
Work hard.
Your time is coming.
Believe in yourself, and know that anything is possible.”
Ajibade closed her message with gratitude to God and a powerful declaration: “Forever grateful to the Most High GOD. Forever champions.”
The win marks Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title and cements the Super Falcons’ status as Africa’s most successful women’s football team.
