“Wizkid Regretted His Insult During EndSARS – Reekado Banks Opens Up on Fallout and Reconciliation”

Nigerian music star Reekado Banks has opened up about his public fallout with Wizkid during the height of the EndSARS protests in October 2020. In a recent interview on The Esther Show, Reekado revealed that Wizkid has since expressed regret over the harsh words he used during their disagreement.

The rift between the two artists began when Reekado Banks announced the release of their collaborative single, Omo Olomo, amid the national protest against police brutality. Wizkid, who had temporarily suspended all music promotions in solidarity with the EndSARS movement, reacted strongly, calling Reekado a “fool” and a “clout animal” in a now-deleted tweet. The outburst shocked fans and sparked debate across social media.

Reekado has now clarified that the song’s release was not entirely his decision, but one made by his management team—despite his own reservations at the time.

“Recently, he [Wizkid] came visiting my restaurant,” Reekado shared. “We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it. He was like he shouldn’t have gone that route. He even mentioned his behaviour toward Don Jazzy as well.”

According to Reekado, Wizkid acknowledged that his reaction was “a bit edgy” and admitted that, with time, he came to see things differently. The reconciliation was heartfelt, particularly since both artists—along with Don Jazzy—have recently suffered the loss of their mothers, a shared grief that helped bring them closer.

“He feels sorry about that time, so we are good now,” Reekado concluded.

Their renewed friendship marks a healing moment in the Nigerian music industry and a reminder of how personal growth and mutual understanding can repair even the most public of disagreements.
