Kwankwaso Blasts Tinubu’s Government in Jos, Declares APC Administration Unfit for a Second Term
The political heat ahead of the 2027 general elections intensified on Friday as former Kano State Governor and Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, launched a scathing critique against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, declaring that the current government has failed Nigerians and does not deserve a second term.
Speaking in Jos, Plateau State, at a grand reception and village hall meeting organized by the Middle Belt Youth Council for the Obi/Kwankwaso (OK) ticket, Kwankwaso addressed mammoth crowds on behalf of the party’s presidential candidate, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.
Explaining Obi’s Absence and Presenting a “Ticket of Unity”
Addressing supporters who gathered in high spirits, Kwankwaso explained that Peter Obi was scheduled to chair the event but was unavoidably held back in Enugu due to circumstances beyond his control. Conveying Obi’s solidarity, Kwankwaso emphasized that the joint ticket remains 100 percent united with the people of Plateau State.
Highlighting the structural makeup of their coalition, Kwankwaso described the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as a balanced formula designed to heal national fractures:
“We agreed that this ticket, as it stands now, is a ticket of unity: unity in Plateau, unity in Northern Nigeria, unity in Southern Nigeria, and unity in Nigeria. This ticket of ours is a balanced, very balanced ticket. Every person is represented. And the two of us stand for the future.”
“A Government Where People Die Like Chickens Does Not Deserve Re-election”
Switching focus to the state of the nation, Kwankwaso did not mince words regarding the worsening security crisis and harsh economic realities facing citizens under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Drawing from his executive experience as a former two-term governor and former Minister of Defence, he lamented that the country has lost its industrial base, leaving factories abandoned and youths unemployed:
- The Collapse of Local Industry: “You can’t find any functional factory or industry to employ our men and women in this country, including Plateau State. The factories we had in the past are gone, and nobody cares.”
- Insecurity and Loss of Life: “In this country, unfortunately, you wake up and find that 10 people, 20 people, 100 people, or even more, are killed like chicken and nobody cares… We must have leaders who are ready to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.”
- The Verdict on 2027: “Any government that cannot do that, we cannot call that government a responsible government and that government does not deserve a second term.”
Education, Agriculture, and Rebuilding the Nation
Outlining the core pillars of the NDC manifesto, Kwankwaso promised that an Obi-Kwankwaso administration would prioritize tackling illiteracy, poverty, and insecurity while heavily reinvesting in agriculture and free education.
Reiterating his legendary educational policies in Kano alongside Obi’s track record in Anambra, Kwankwaso pledged: “Each and every child in Nigeria should have an opportunity to go to school.”
He urged the people of Plateau State to turn out en masse during the upcoming elections, vote for the NDC ticket, and fiercely protect their ballots, recalling how the state successfully stood by the Obidient movement in 2023.
