SOKOTO, Nigeria — Former Senator representing Sokoto East and member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board, Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir, has threw his weight behind the renewed military crackdown targeting terrorists, bandits, and criminal elements operating across vulnerable communities in Sokoto State.
In a official press statement released on Tuesday, Gobir highlighted that persistent armed raids have systematically crippled agricultural production, local commerce, and community livelihoods, creating an unacceptable atmosphere of terror across the state.
Sustained Military Pressure Crucial for Regional Recovery
Commending the coordinated deployment of additional personnel and military hardware, Gobir praised the joint security framework comprising the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local Community Guards Corps.
The former lawmaker expressed confidence that sustained operations would systematically erode the operational capacity of criminal hideouts in high-risk zones, including Sabon Birni, Isa, and surrounding border settlements.

A Stern Warning to Local Informants and Collaborators
Addressing the internal factors enabling rural insurgency, Gobir issued a direct warning to individuals offering logistical backing, food supplies, shelter, or operational intelligence to criminal cells.
He singled out local informants who leak military troop movements as perpetrator of treasonous acts that jeopardize security lives and expose villages to punitive attacks.
